Dear Friends,
I am hoping to have a major overhaul done on the webpage, with some new pictures. Don't forget if you have a good picture taken at a performance and would like it on the web page send it to me at DoireOne@aol.com and give me permission to use it.
I had a fabulous time in Ireland and France with my sisters. My youngest sister Maeve's birthday was terrific, as was the following night in Rosato's in Moville, Co. Donegal, made all the more special by Mr. John Hume's (MP and Nobel Peace Prize recipient) joining me at the microphone for a song! We have only a cell phone picture of the event, but hope to secure permission to publish it. John has a beautiful voice and sang a ballad no one in the audience had heard before. I hope to research it and perhaps include it in a future cd.
The Mayor's Ball for outgoing Mayor and Mayoress Mr. and Mrs. Michael Carton, of Limavady, Northern Ireland Mr. was a great event, and I was honored to have been asked to play at it. Unfortunately, although invited for a tour of the Mayoral Chambers, time restraints did not allow me to attend.
Limavady has a beautiful Cultural Arts Centre in downtown, with a lovely indoor/outdoor cafe (featuring Starbucks)!. The Alexander Arms Hotel and Bar just down the street, features some great folk music on Thursday nights.
France was as memorable as when I was a child. Brittany's Le Cote De Granite Rose, Le Mont de Saint Michel, St.Malo, the food, the people...I could go on and on. I had forgotten why Paris was called "The City Of Enlightenment", and look forward to going back soon!
Thank you once again to the Staten Island Irish Festival for having me back. Please check out this fast-growing festival and consider joining us next year, June 2012.
RETIREMENT...well, not yet. Apparently some people got it into their heads that I was erasing myself off the music scene. While I do intend to lessen my on-the-road trips, I am by no means quitting in the near future.
Keeping up-to-date with all the technology overwhelms me, and remains a problem for me...hopefully soon to be resolved...I will keep you posted!
Walter and I do hope to travel more (sans musique) AND spend some time at home in WI. We are thinking of renting a small home in Key West, FL for the winters, now that we have sold our RV. I love the CIty Of Key West. It has been my favorite place to spend the last 15 winters.
I have added some old and new venues to the schedule this year, please check in once in a while for updates, and if you have enjoyed a performance, please don't forget to sign the "guest book".
ALL 5 CDS ARE AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE. Please email me at DoireOne@aol.com for purchasing instructions and pricing. They make GREAT STOCKING-STUFFERS!
Blessings to each and every one of you, my friends, until we meet again.
